It has been a while since I went to the movies. I was in for a big, happy and comfortable surprise. I don't know when the theatre was updated, but as of now, the seats are HUGE, they RECLINE and have movable trays with big cupholders. The seats adjust with the touch of a button so I watched my movie with my feet up. Another big change is that there is at least a foot in front of the seats when fully extended in case someone wants to walk by. Gone are the old days of "excuse me 100 times" and still stepping on people's toes. Way to go Cortez. I hope locals and visitors to our area will take some time out to see a movie in, what to me, was movie luxury! There are two theaters from which to choose. Check on-line for show times! **Currently closed due to this wretched virus, but as their sign says, "they'll be back."

You've probably experienced the feeling of being connected to time from the past. I have in places like The Alamo, Chichen Itza, Mesa Verde, Bell Rock in Sedona, Anini Beach in Kauai, and in my own backyard in Yellow Jacket, Colorado. Sometimes its a feeling of tragedy or sadness. Other times its a happy feeling, but it always has a strong sense of the unknown included. What the locals call Lowry Ruins or more correctly, the Lowry Pueblo, is such a place. It's a must-see and unique destination in Southwest Colorado. You may have the place all to yourself, but if not there is plenty of room to experience the magic undisturbed.
Wikipedia explains "The Lowry Pueblo is an Ancestral Puebloan archaeological site located in Canyons of the Ancients National Monument near Pleasant View, Colorado, United States. The pueblo was constructed around 1060 AD atop abandoned pithouses from an earlier period of occupation. It was occupied by 40 to 100 people at a time for 165 years. The structure was built up to about 40 rooms and featured multiple kivas. The architecture of Lowry Pueblo was influenced by the settlement at Chaco Canyon, approximately 100 miles to the south."

This picture is of the current marker at the exact Four Corners point, placed in 1992. Wikipedia states, "The Four Corners Monument marks the quadripoint in the Southwestern United States where the states of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah meet. It is the only point in the United States shared by four states, leading to the area being named the Four Corners region. The monument also marks the boundary between two semi-autonomous Native American governments, the Navajo Nation, which maintains the monument as a tourist attraction, and the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe Reservation."
The Four Corners Monument is another must-see when visiting the Cortez area. If you go in warmer weather months, there will be Native American vendors selling some junk and some nice things too. I love the juniper bead - also called Ghost bead, necklaces. You can never have too many. I think they bring you luck and ground your Spirit. The Internet says, "Ghost (Spirit) Beads represent interconnection with the earth, trees, animals, and humans. Wear it to bring about peace, harmony, and safety. It wards off negative energy, bringing about protection from evil spirits, ghosts, and nightmares. If you're not wearing them, you can hang them in your bedroom, office or on the mirror of your vehicle to bring you peace and harmony. Ghost beads are dried juniper berries. The juniper berries are collected after ants have found the berries on the ground. They nibble off one end and eat the inside of the berry. The berry is then hollow and dry. Sometimes the berries are lightly smoked to further preserve them. A hole is made in the other end by artisans and then strung."
